Lifelong learning goes hand in hand with the rapid change in business practice whether the changes are from technology, legislation, market forces, internationalization, or demographics. Individuals from Gen X and moreso for Gen Y are expecting several changes in career during their working lives. To be adept in a new field requires acceptance of lifelong learning. To maintain an advantage in a current field similarly requires participation in self-directed learning.
