Welcome to the Inductance Applet
This applet shows how EMF is induced in a loop by changing the magnetic flux through the loop. The different ways to change the flux includes changing the current in a nearby wire, changing a uniform background magnetic field, rotating the loop, moving the loop through a non-uniform field, and changing the size of the loop.
Instructions:
Select the system from the pull down menu.
Change the variables of each system by changing the respective scrollbards.
The induced EMF is represented historically by the graph
Systems:
Wire & Loop - Change the current and position of the loop to induce EMF.
Wire & Changing Loop Size - Change the current and size of the loop to induce EMF.
Uniform Field & Changing Loop Size - Change the magnetic field and size of loop to induce EMF.
Uniform Field & Rotating Loop - Change the magnetic field and the angular position to induce EMF.
AC Current: Wire - The wire has an alternating current, inducing EMF.
AC Current: Rotation - The loop is rotating, changing the magnetic flux, inducing EMF.
