angel01_GettingStarted

I started in 1990, with an operation that was half herbs and half raising sheep and angora goats, for wool. And I started, we started with the idea of having a homesteading operation and being self sufficient and kind of a naive idea that a lot of city people have, I think of what it would be like to go out and fix up an old farm house and all that. And I really like to work outside so that was a big attraction for me, and I like the idea of starting my own business. So I started those two, the two parts with the idea that I would take care of the sheep and all that, focusing more on that in the winter, scheduling lambing, so it would be in the winter and the herbs for the rest of the season and the herbs really took off. The sheep just broke even and were a lot of work. After about, maybe four years, I finally sold all the sheep and I had built up my flock of sheep and Angora goats to about 60. I finally sold them all and just focused on the herbs. Started hiring more employees, built up to about 12 employees that I would hire during the season. Focused on selling culinary herbs to supermarkets.
